User Agreement
English is the governing language of this document. Translations are provided for convenience. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version prevails, subject to any mandatory requirements of applicable law.
This agreement sets out your rights and obligations when you use the aPaper service. Please read it together with the Privacy Policy and the Service Agreement.
1. Scope of the Agreement
aPaper is an academic reading and research workspace maintained by AtoMemory. This agreement applies to your use of aPaper accounts, the app and related services. For how specific features are used and their boundaries, see the Service Agreement; for the processing of personal information, see the Privacy Policy.
Please read these documents before registering, signing in or using the related services, and confirm your choices through the flows the product provides. The availability of different versions and features is as actually described in the product; preview features may be adjusted as development and maintenance proceed.
2. Accounts and Identity
Please create your account with an email address or third-party identity that you have the right to control, and complete the corresponding verification. The aPaper ID, the unique username and the independently verified bound email are used to identify an account. Once set, the username remains fixed; a bound email and a third-party identity may not belong to more than one aPaper account at the same time.
When you sign in with Google or GitHub, the email returned by the third party does not automatically become a verified aPaper email, and accounts are not merged merely because their emails are the same. Linking to an existing account requires first proving that you control that account; before linking a second third-party sign-in method, the aPaper bound email must be independently verified.
Please keep your password, email and third-party accounts secure. If you notice unusual sign-ins, identity impersonation or problems with account ownership, please contact support promptly. We may require necessary identity verification to protect the account and its associated data.
3. Rules of Use
Please comply with applicable laws, academic norms and the rules of the relevant third-party services. You may not impersonate others, infringe intellectual property or privacy, or disseminate unlawful content, nor may you circumvent access controls, abuse APIs or interfere with the normal operation of the service.
Before using papers, datasets, images, software and other materials, please confirm the corresponding authorization, license or basis for use. The reading, organizing and analysis features aPaper provides do not change the ownership or scope of authorization of the original materials.
4. Content and Intellectual Property
You retain the corresponding rights in content to which you are lawfully entitled. To provide features that you initiate or enable, aPaper stores, presents and processes the relevant content to the extent necessary; this does not mean that you transfer ownership of the content to AtoMemory.
The aPaper name, logo, software and website content are protected by the corresponding intellectual property rights. Except as permitted by law or otherwise authorized, you may not copy, distribute or use this content in a way that infringes those rights.
5. Third-Party Services
You may use third-party sign-in, import tools or model services in the ways the product supports. Accounts, charges, availability and data processing of third-party services are subject to their own terms; creating or signing in to an aPaper account does not mean that you have subscribed to any paid third-party service.
Before configuring a third-party service, please check the service provider, access permissions, the data sent and any charges that may arise. For how specific operations process data, see the Privacy Policy and the Service Agreement.
6. Service Adjustments and Access Restrictions
We may adjust the service for maintenance, security, compatibility or feature updates. For changes that materially affect use, we will provide relevant explanations through the product or the website. Problems with networks, devices or external services may affect some features; please keep independent copies of important materials.
To deal with identity impersonation, abuse or conduct that affects other users or the security of the system, we may apply necessary verification, rate limiting or access restrictions. If you believe a restriction is mistaken, you can contact support and provide the information needed for verification.
7. Account Correction and Deletion
You can manage your profile and linked sign-in methods in the product. Changing a password or bound email, linking or removing a sign-in method, and deleting an account require email verification for that operation. For information about data processing, see the Privacy Policy.
You may choose immediate deletion or deletion after seven days in Account & Security. Both options sign you out; signing in before the seven-day deadline cancels scheduled deletion. Completed deletion removes your hosted profile, avatar, linked identities and community content, and releases your username and eligible public ID. It cannot be undone. Local research files are not deleted by this account operation; back up anything you wish to keep.
8. Responsibility and Dispute Resolution
Research tools and AI output cannot replace verification of original materials, citations and conclusions. You should judge independently whether results are suitable, in light of your purpose of use and the relevant professional requirements.
Each party bears its corresponding responsibility under applicable law and this agreement; this agreement does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. If a dispute arises, please first contact support to negotiate; if it cannot be resolved, it may be handled through the channels provided by applicable law.
9. Updates and Contact
When this agreement is updated, the date will be marked. Where important rights and obligations change, we will provide a corresponding explanation and, where applicable, ask for your confirmation again.
